What is Transformational Life Coaching?
There are many types of life coaching. I have been trained to be a transformational life coach: real change comes from within. When you are not satisfied with a situation, there is no point in trying to change the other person. You can only change an unwanted situation by changing yourself: your behavior, your reaction, your perception. I can also coach you into realizing your desires and wishes or into better performance (for example work or sport).
The conversation lasts between 50-60 minutes, not longer. After 60 minutes a conversation tends to become blablabla. Having a coaching session means concentrated work. A structured conversation starts with the problem definition followed by what it is that you would like to change and ideally closes with a hands-on solution.
There are many techniques and work practices that can be used in a coaching session. Which one in which sequence will be used, is a rather intuitive choice of the life coach. The coachee is fully responsible for the result, as it is the coachee who needs to do the work.
He is always in control.
A life coach can challenge a coachee to come out of his or her comfort zone, but the coachee makes the decisions. A life coach does not come with solutions, unlike a consultant. I am trained to ask relevant questions, to observe, to truly minimize projection and to use my intuition so that the coachee can find his own personal best solutions for the real problem. A good and trusted friend is very different from a life coach. A life coach is not burdened by social desirability, by maintaining the friendship, by shame or by guilt. In addition, ask yourself how desirable it is to possibly burden a friendship with your personal problems.
